Trade Policy in Action: Local Business Impacts and Advocacy Strategies in London and Peer Regions

This course-based research project engages students in exploring how trade policy shapes business operations and competitiveness in key sectors relevant to the London Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) and its peer regions, including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, finance, technology, and life sciences. Through a staged set of assignments, students will (1) research how trade policy directly affects a company within a priority sector, (2) collaborate in teams to examine policy issues faced by multiple companies in the same sector and present on the strategies used to influence outcomes, and (3) complete a capstone assignment that involves interviewing business leaders in London to identify pressing trade-related policy issues and potential solutions.
