Amplify London: Geospatial Insights for a UNESCO City of Music

Students in Fanshawe College’s GIS & Urban Planning program will support the City of London’s emerging Economic Development Strategy by creating geospatial analysis that strengthens London’s identity as a UNESCO City of Music. Using music sector datasets, students will map venues, festivals, cultural institutions, studios, education hubs, and creative businesses to produce a city wide ecosystem map. They will also identify “UNESCO visibility gaps” by analyzing gateways, transit corridors, and high traffic areas. Finally, students will propose priority UNESCO Music Districts or Corridors with rationale and recommended interventions, delivering practical, map based insights to inform London’s cultural and economic planning.
